In a book about economics there were lines that would grab you out of the blue.  One was about how the church infrastructure was worth more than the government several centuries ago in, I think France, than the government.  Another was late in the book regarding the lowering of the top U.S. tax rate from 1980 forward.  It compared U.S. growth to the United Kingdom from 1980 to 2010 (book was published in 2014.)  The massive lowering of top U.S. tax rates made no difference in growth rates.  U.S. and U.K. had the same growth rates over the long time period.

I love the final line of the book, “Rufusing to deal with numbers rarely serves the interests of the least well off."
